Cayuga View Senior Living Goes Solar

New Contemporary Senior Apartment Community in the Village of Lansing Announces Addition of Rooftop Solar Panels to Energy Efficient Project

Regional General Contractor TAYLOR – The Builders, as part of a joint partnership with Ithaca-based developer, Manley Thaler, and Rochester-based property manager, Rochester’s Cornerstone Group, announced today plans to implement one of the larger private multifamily residential rooftop solar projects in the Southern Tier.

Cayuga View Senior Living, an 87,000-square-foot, 60-unit senior apartment community located at 16 Cinema Drive in the Village of Lansing, will feature a solar system consisting of 151 panels, equally distributed throughout the rooftop and around the highly anticipated rooftop garden. Construction work and leasing is currently underway, with residency beginning in May of 2018.

“We are incredibly proud of the long-term partnership we are building with the Lansing community,” said TAYLOR President, Karl Schuler. “We are making a commitment to preserve Lansing’s unique heritage and be responsible stewards of its future. This innovative solar project is one of many initiatives we designed and implemented to make this contemporary senior apartment community more sustainable and environmentally friendly.”

“TAYLOR’s investment in a solar energy project at Cayuga View Senior Living shows a commitment both to their community and environment,” said Kevin Schulte, CEO of SunCommon NY. “Karl’s (Schuler) leadership in the industry, with this pledge to reduce their carbon footprint through the energy efficiency program and the solar project addition, will allow TAYLOR to improve the quality of living for their members now and well in to the future.”

The 151 solar panels make up the 46kW solar array, producing an annual production of more than 52,000 kWh of energy. Based on the annual production of this solar energy project, it will be providing numerous environmental benefits. The following emission reductions include: Over 87,585 pounds of carbon dioxide; 376 pounds of sulfur dioxide; and 123 pounds of nitrous oxide every year.

To put these numbers into perspective, this reduction in annual carbon dioxide emissions is equivalent to driving over 52,000 fewer miles each year, or planting 1046 trees. Over the expected life of the solar energy project, this could equate to driving over 1,308,025 fewer miles, or planting 26,161 trees.

Cayuga View Senior Living is a rental apartment community for 55 & BETTER adults, located in the heart of the Triphammer Marketplace in Lansing, NY. The 4-story multi-use building, will offer a total of 60 unfurnished rental apartments and retail space on first floor for added conveniences. The building with adaptive accessibility, features spectacular views of Cayuga Lake, and will offer underground parking and storage, wireless internet, cable, business center, fitness center, and rooftop garden.
